Control Measures

Provision C.15 defines control measures for each category of Conditionally Exempted Non-Stormwater Discharges. For example, for individual residential car washing, defined control measures include public outreach to encourage individuals to use commercial car washes or washing cars over landscape areas using as little detergent as necessary. To meet control measures for landscape irrigation, municipalities encourage drought tolerant landscapes and require reduced irrigation with their Water Efficient Landscape Ordinances.

The Authority, SCVURPPP, and the municipalities work together to reduce polluted stormwater discharges through outreach and education. Specifically for Provision C.15, websites and social media provide public outreach and educational materials such as Clean Cars and Clean Creeks, Draining Pools and Spas, and You are the Solution to Water Pollution.
