SCVURPPP and the municipalities work together to reduce local PCB contamination. The West Valley Cities/Town and the Authority conduct outreach to educate residents and businesses about the impact of PCBs on water quality and health.
As of July 2019, the Cities/Town implemented a PCB Demolition Control Program to control and track potential PCB contaminants in building demolitions. The requirements apply to complete building demolitions of commercial, multi-family residential, public, institutional, and industrial structures constructed or remodeled between 1950 and 1980. Single-family and wooden structures are exempt. Applicants with applicable structures must conduct an assessment to screen for PCBs in priority building materials prior to receiving a demolition permit.
