Member agencies work together to reduce local mercury contamination. This includes finding and stopping pollution in local watersheds. The West Valley Cities/Town, the Authority, and SCVURPPP conduct outreach to educate residents and businesses about the impact of mercury on water quality and health, and risk of eating fish caught in the San Francisco Bay.
Additional measures include:
Green Stormwater Infrastructure with bioretention gardens and pervious pavement
Storm drain systems that collect polluted sediments
